GHSA Competitive Cheerleading Competitions & Results/Discussions / State Judges

With one of the main judges (Simone Smith) coaching out of Atlanta Jayhawks, is it fair that high school teams well beyond the Duluth area compete against some of her cheerleaders?

6A has to be between Effingham and Northgate!!

There is no parent area inside the Civic Center.  As to video, all they can do is ban actual recording devices.  Most cameras have a movie function.  Unless it has a recording light on it, they really can't do anything.

My best suggestion for taking pictures would be to find some open seats behind the judges and the mat.  Given how far the seats are from the floor, you'd likely need a good lens for your camera to zoom in.

You might try the twitter profile for Georgia HS Cheer.  There are some really good ones of a variety of teams over the past couple months and you might find one there.  I did see Heritage on Saturday though and have to say they were amazing!

I know we cannot video or use flash photography.  However I couldn't remember if there was a parent viewing area somewhere close to the stage at State to take pictures by friends and family.  Otherwise... is there a preferred area that people have found they liked to sit or walk to in order to get some good pictures?  Hoping to try to get some good ones and find a way to put my camera in my purse because they said no backpacks or large bags this year.

Has anyone seen Heritage-Catoosa?? Just curious because they were top 4 last season, correct??? and no one has mentioned them at all this year!!
They are just as good as last season!! At region they dropped a lot of their pyramid but still finished with a 250 at region and won. They max out the score sheet with amazing tumbling, and should be considered a contender this year!

Any video?!?!

I think Pierce, Pike and Dawson have the best chances of being in the top 4.
although, I do agree that pike and pierce will definitely be in the top 4.

I highly doubt dawson will be in the top four they only have 11 girls, so their max difficulty for stunts is a 5 and everyone else in the top 6 will be scoring a 7/8 in this difficulty. Also, although they do max of running tumbling, they have not many standing tucks and no fulls,  so they will receive a  4 in standing tumbling. I think you are underestimating a lot of other teams in the 3A division that have way more difficulty and very good execution thatbwill be placing above dawson county this weekend.
