GHSA Competitive Cheerleading Competitions & Results/Discussions / Re: New Scoring

All that subjective judging ended up causing some teams losses and placing they didn’t deserve. How does it make sense for one judge to decide he/she doesn’t like a team’s dance, or pyramid, or anything else - just based on personal preference? It should be based on the rubric, not someone’s personal opinion. Yes, I realize that judges are there to judge, but it doesn’t seem right that one person can lowball a team and destroy their chances at placing, or even winning.

Heard reports that civic center staff were trying to prevent fans from saving sections.  So that led to people camping out, getting there three hours beforehand.  Is there not a better way?

Why did the City of Columbus put a fair at the civic center the same weekend as state?  Traffic there was worse than ever.

Armuchee was amazing.  Loved Coosa's routine.  Pom pom's, the whole American theme.  Their transitions were buttery smooth, very tight and clean.  Loved the energy from Bleckley.  They looked like a squad who wanted to be out there, and sold it to the judges.

Always feel bad for the girls who get sick at state.  It was cold inside, they get hot competing, plus nerves, enough to make anyone sick.

Introing each of the top six with their head coach was a nice touch.

What about Union Grove in 5A? South Effingham has a history of falling apart at state....

I wouldn't put Vidalia in the top 6 this year. I agree that Screven and Bleckley are also contenders!
37
1. Bleckley
2. Dodge County
3. East Laurens

Vidalia can be very hit and miss.  Fitzgerald looked decent when I saw them, but I'm not sure they're top six.  Screven County has looked fairly strong when I've seen them, they could surprise.  Bleckley had been looking really good but had a bad day at region.

TOP 6 Predictions:
AA: Coosa, Armuchee, Pepperell, Bacon County, Fitzgerald, Vidalia
3A: Pierce County, Adairsville, LFO, Worth County, Morgan County, North Hall
4A: Cedartown, Chapel Hill, Mary Persons, Columbus, Troup County, Heritage-Catoosa
5A: Carrollton, McIntosh, Ola, Whitewater, Starr's Mill, South Effingham
6A: Northgate, Alexander, Johns Creek, Cambridge, Creekview, Houston County
7A: Lambert, West Forsyth, South Forsyth, North Forsyth, Lassiter, Woodstock

Do A & COED standings change that much from Sectionals to Finals?
A-Public: Gordon Lee
A-Private: Mt. Paran Christian
COED: Peachtree Ridge, East Coweta, Mill Creek, Forsyth Central, Woodland-Cartersville

I would say Bacon County will definitely be in the top 4 for AA
