First of all Congratulations to Columbus, GA for hosting another great state event. What a great place to watch cheer.
I disagree with the remark about the AAAAAA division. I think this year held very good competition for this division especially considering last years team performances, however those who were there and watched every routine would have to agree that the scoring was abominable.
How does a second place team have their first lift hit the floor, one cheerleader put both hands on the mat and one cheerleader step out of bounds and make second place?
The third place team had a far better routine and had only one fall that hit the floor at the very end of a great routine.
I thought the fourth place team made no mistakes with no possible deductions. Really they hit everything. I would like to know what the comparisons are for the top 6 teams and how they maxed out on their categories.
This is a sport that leaves too much to interpretation. If you focused on the category of deductions based on errors: first, second and third place would have been different.
I can assure you there were coaches at this years event that are thankful for judge interpretation, as I did not see much difference in hitting the GHSA required marks for difficulty among any of the 3 that placed. However I saw errors that were surprising for what teams scored.
