Scores

Wonder what it would take to get scores from these competitions?? A few weeks ago, scores from the Houston Co comp were published in the Macon Telegraph. Why not publish them here?

Someone from the host school who had all the scores.  Did not see HoCo comp scores, am guessing they were in Warner Robins edition.  I know those were sent in by the school because the Telegraph does not consider competition cheerleading a sport.

Any scores can be released by a ghsa official at all sanctioned events. Just like football or any other sport. So if a paper wants to do a report they can get results from GHSA. Personally it doesn't matter to me but some schools don't like to show their scores or have them published. Especially host schools that hid their scores for a reason, only to find out their results were published.

So a reporter or someone doing an article for example could contact GHSA and get scores from competitions? If so, why not just make them public? I understand schools not necessarily wanting their scores publicized, but it seems that there are no rules or regulations to prevent them from being released if the right party asks for them. I guess what I'm thinking is that if I knew what other teams in my classification were scoring, it would give me a better idea of what I needed to do or where I stood in comparison to those teams. Why wouldn't coaches want to know the scores of other teams?

It's not that coaches don't want to know other teams, it's that coaches down want other teams knowing their scores.

Main reason-it's a subjective sport. It's not black and white. Therefore a lot of opinion goes into a score. It's not like a scoreboard. It's very different actually. What I think is a 10 in execution might be an 8 for someone else.

So releasing scores doesn't really do anything. It also changes weekly. Again, it's just subjective so people don't want others knowing what someone thought of them when they personally think they are better.

Or in some cases, some schools don't want other schools in their region to know their score because of rivalry between the schools.  Believe it or not, there can be region or area rivalry developed in competition cheerleading.
